Azerbaijan inters remains of Khojaly Genocide victim decades later

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 27. A farewell ceremony was held for Akif Mahmudov, whose remains were found in a mass grave discovered in Khojaly, TurkicWorld reports.

The remains of Akif Mahmudov, who disappeared during the Khojaly genocide, were taken to Jeyranbatan, the house where his family lives.

The ceremony of farewell to the martyr was held here, which was attended by Mahmudov's relatives and residents of Khojaly.

The remains of the martyr, found in a mass grave in Khojaly, were reburied in the cemetery in the village of Jeyranbatan.

To note, Akif Mahmudov was born in 1962 in Khojaly. Being a member of the self-defense volunteer detachment, Akif Mahmudov disappeared at the age of 30 on February 26, 1992.

He was married and had two sons.
