Bishkek, Nov. 28, 2021. / Kabar /. The winter tourist season 2021-2022 in Kyrgyzstan has officially opened at the Karakol ski resort, the press service of the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy reported.
The event, which took place on Saturday, was attended by Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy Azamat Zhamankulov, representatives of the Swiss Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, the Swiss Project for Sustainable Tourism Development in Kyrgyzstan, domestic partners, tourists and vacationers.
At the opening ceremony, Zhamankulov wished all guests a good mood and urged to protect and love the beautiful nature of Kyrgyzstan.
The minister noted that winter tourism is one of the most important areas of the country's economy, adding that a lot of work is planned in this direction.
He also stressed that one of the key issues is to increase the tourism potential of Kyrgyzstan and create conditions for it.
Kyrgyzstan attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world not only for its rich history, but also for the richness of nature in the mountains and mild climate. The tourism industry in Kyrgyzstan includes many activities aimed at year-round outdoor recreation.
The mountains of Kyrgyzstan, one of the most beautiful places in Central Asia, are a great discovery and a great opportunity for nature lovers and skiers.
There are a total of 23 ski resorts in Kyrgyzstan, currently 17 of them work. Ski resorts in Kyrgyzstan are mainly located in Chui and Issyk-Kul Oblasts.
In addition to skiing, winter tourism includes trips to waterfalls, caves, thermal and rare springs, folk and history museums and many other attractions.
In Kyrgyzstan, the ski season begins in November and December and lasts until early April, and the best time for skiing is February and March.
The modern Karakol ski complexis located 7 km from the city of Karakol (Issyk-Kul Oblast). In Soviet times, the country's Olympic team trained in it. The complex is completely modernized. Today, the Karakol complex is a convenient place not only for training athletes, but also for active recreation.
The opening ceremony was traditionally attended by partners, guests and media representatives supporting the tourism industry.
