Azerbaijani Minister of Health holds meetings as part of 73rd session of WHO Regional Committee for Europe

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 27. Azerbaijani Minister of Health Teymur Musayev held bilateral meetings within the framework of the 73rd session of the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Committee for Europe in Astana with WHO Regional Director Hans Kluge, Minister of Health of Kazakhstan Azhar Giniyat, as well as with the Director of the UNAIDS Regional Support Team for Asia and the Pacific Eamonn Murphy, the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan told TurkicWorld.

The high level of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the World Health Organization and its European Regional Committee was noted during the talks held in a friendly atmosphere. It was stressed that WHO and its European Regional Committee highly appreciate the role of the president of Azerbaijan in the successful implementation of this cooperation, as well as the convening of a special session within the framework of cooperation of the Non-Aligned Movement during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition, it was noted that Azerbaijan is interested in closer cooperation with WHO in the areas of digitalization of healthcare, as well as human capital and infrastructure. Azerbaijan's assistance and initiatives in the fight against COVID-19 at the international level were also noted.

The support of the WHO and its Regional Committee for Europe in the formation of health management according to modern concepts, the use of international experience, as well as cooperation with the countries that are members of the organization was highly appreciated during the meetings.

Moreover, the importance of deepening cooperation between WHO member countries and international organizations in the creation of modern health systems, the application of progressive management principles, technological advances, the development of medical education, diagnosis of diseases, as well as the fight against AIDS was identified.
