Azerbaijan is elected to WHO Regional Evaluation Group

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 25. The 73rd session of the European Regional Committee of the World Health Organization (WHO) is taking place in Astana (Kazakhstan), the Azerbaijani Health Ministry told TurkicWorld.

Azerbaijan is represented at the session by a delegation headed by Health Minister Teymur Musayev.

Elections to the WHO Regional Evaluation Group were held as part of the World Health Organization's 73rd session of the European Regional Committee. Azerbaijan has been elected to this group as a result of the elections.

"Our country's election to the WHO Regional Evaluation Group is a result of Azerbaijan's strong and effective cooperation with the World Health Organization. This will improve Azerbaijan's position in decision-making and organizational work, as well as widen the scope of its activities," the ministry said.

According to the Azerbaijani Health Ministry, the WHO Regional assessment Group performs an essential role in strengthening assessment efforts, boosting the effectiveness of outcomes, and contributing to the organization's research activity. The group's actions also aim to facilitate learning and usage of the results produced through evaluation operations. Furthermore, the activities of the Regional Evaluation Group have an impact on decision-making.

"The Regional Evaluation Group also evaluates, determines criteria, and short-lists candidates for the position of Regional Director of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe," the ministry added.
