BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 8. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan held an informal conversation in Turkmenbashi, Turkmenistan, during a concert programme organized following the 8th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Azerbaijan and Central Asian countries.
The two leaders were seated next to each other at the same table during the event.
The 8th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Azerbaijan and Central Asian countries was held on October 8, 2026, in the Avaza National Tourist Zone in Turkmenbashi.
It was the first full-scale meeting in the renewed format following the decision adopted at the November 2025 summit in Tashkent to grant Azerbaijan full-fledged participation in the consultative meeting format.
The summit addressed regional security, political and diplomatic cooperation, trade and economic relations, energy, transport and logistics corridors, environmental issues and humanitarian ties.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a Joint Statement of the 8th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Azerbaijan and Central Asian countries, as well as a decision concerning the regulatory documents of the format.
