BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 4. A new Baku Metro station located on Jalil Mammadguluzadeh Street 194 in Nasimi district will be named “20 September”.
The decision was approved by Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov.
According to the decision, the station was named “20 September” on the initiative of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, taking into account the restoration of Azerbaijan’s state sovereignty throughout its territory on September 20, 2023.
The Baku City Executive Authority and Baku Metro Closed Joint-Stock Company have been instructed to take the necessary measures arising from the decision.
It should be noted that by a decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev on September 19, 2024, September 20 is marked as State Sovereignty Day in Azerbaijan.
The date was designated in honour of the complete restoration of Azerbaijan’s sovereignty over its territory following the local anti-terror operation conducted on September 19–20, 2023.
