Kyrgyzstan's and Russia's defense ministers sign new agreements

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, April 26. Kyrgyzstan and Russia have signed two documents following the meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Astana (Kazakhstan), TurkicWorld reports.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, Defense Ministers Sergey Shoigu and Baktybek Bekbolotov, during their meeting in Astana, signed two interdepartmental agreements: "On Information Exchange" and "On Cooperation in the Field of Detection and Assessment of Radiological, Chemical, and Biological Situations."

During the negotiations, the heads of defense ministries discussed current issues of cooperation in the military sphere and outlined prospects for further collaboration.

The Council of Ministers of Defense of the SCO in Astana was attended by the heads of defense ministries of SCO member states, the Secretary-General, the Director of the Executive Committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the SCO, as well as the Defense Minister of Belarus.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that the SCO is not a military-political bloc and that cooperation in the military sphere is not directed against other countries.
