Bishkek Mayor’s Office sign memorandum with Korean Embassy

Bishkek, Nov. 10, 2023. / Kabar/. Bishkek Mayor’s Office and the Korean Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic signed a memorandum to provide technical assistance and improvement of the Kyrgyz-Korean Friendship Park.

The document was signed by Mayor of Bishkek Aibek Dzhunushaliev and Korean Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic Lee Wonjae.

The purpose of this grant project is to increase the administrative capacity of the mayor’s office by providing with technical equipment and a car for the needs of the municipality free of charge, the report said.

During the signing, the mayor of Bishkek outlined the importance of developing mutually beneficial cooperation with the embassy, as well as deepening interaction with the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and expressed gratitude for the financial assistance provided to the municipality.

In addition, the mayor expressed interest in developing fruitful bilateral cooperation in the implementation of further joint projects for social, cultural and humanitarian development. He noted that the Bishkek Mayor’s Office is open to the development of further bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation.

In 2013, to commemorate the 22nd anniversary of the twinning between the cities of Bishkek and Kumi, a memorial sign with texts in Kyrgyz and Korean languages was installed in the Fizkulturny park.

Later, on the initiative of the embassy with the consent of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, as part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Kyrgyz-Korean diplomatic relations in accordance with the legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic, the square was given the name “Friendship Park between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Korea.”
