BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 3. Erlan Sarsembayev has been reappointed Minister of Justice of Kazakhstan.
According to the press service of the Kazakh president, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the corresponding decree.
On August 28, the Government of Kazakhstan resigned before the newly elected unicameral parliament - the Kurultai.
Sarsembayev was born in 1975 in Almaty Region. He graduated from the Almaty Institute of Energy and Communications and the D.A. Kunaev Humanities University.
From 1998 to 2002, Sarsembayev served in officer positions. In 2002, he joined the Office of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, where he worked as a consultant and head of a sector until 2005.
From 2005 to 2011, he worked at the Office of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, serving as deputy head of a department and head of a department. From 2011 to 2016, he held senior positions in Kazakhstan’s national security agencies.
In 2016, Sarsembayev returned to the Office of the Senate, where he served as head of a department from 2016 to 2017. From 2017 to 2019, he was Deputy Head of the Office of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, and from 2019 to 2022, he again headed a department at the Senate Office.
From 2023 to 2025, he served as a judge of the Constitutional Court of Kazakhstan. On January 9, 2025, he was appointed Minister of Justice of Kazakhstan by presidential decree.

Erzhan Sadenov was reappointed Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan.
Ghalymzhan Koishybayev retained his position as Deputy Prime Minister - Head of the Government Office of Kazakhstan.
Nurlybek Nalybayev was reappointed First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.
Kanat Bozumbayev was reappointed Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.
A nationwide referendum on the adoption of Kazakhstan’s new Constitution was held on March 15, 2026. The new Constitution officially entered into force on July 1, 2026.
Under the new constitutional model, the position of Vice President was introduced, while the Kazakhstan People's Council (Qazaqstan Halyq Kenesi) was established as the highest constitutional consultative body representing the interests of the people of Kazakhstan. The former bicameral parliament, consisting of the Mazhilis and the Senate, was transformed into a unicameral Kurultai.
