KAZAN, Russia, October 24. Kazakhstan is focused on building reliable partnerships within the BRICS+ framework to enhance energy security, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said at the first plenary session of the XVI BRICS Plus summit in Kazan, TurkicWorld reports.
"We are interested in advancing existing projects and launching new initiatives in the extraction and processing of oil and gas, as well as rare minerals. We must also leverage the immense potential of BRICS to address the consequences of climate change, such as water scarcity, extreme temperature increases, and desertification," he said.
Tokayev pointed out that Kazakhstan sees BRICS as a springboard for global advancement.
"We are pleased to note the dynamic growth of trade with BRICS nations, which accounted for nearly half of our foreign trade turnover in 2023. We aim to expand mutually beneficial partnerships in key sectors such as trade and investment, IT technologies, rare minerals, food security, education, and tourism," he added.
