ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 16. Kazakhstan and Germany have engaged in discussions to enhance bilateral cooperation, TurkicWorld reports.
The discussions unfolded behind closed doors, where Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz had a heart to heart.
"This is the first visit by a German head of government to our country in the past 14 years, making it a historic event. I am confident that we will give a significant boost to the development of our cooperation and increase bilateral trade. Germany is one of our key European and global partners. We place great importance on our dynamic and multifaceted cooperation and will do everything possible to further deepen and strengthen our ties," said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Chancellor Scholz expressed gratitude to President Tokayev for the hospitality and emphasized the importance of strengthening Kazakh-German relations.
The meeting covered a range of topics, including the expansion of political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian ties. Special attention was given to cooperation in energy, green transition, industry, mining, transportation and logistics, climate change, ecology, agriculture, and education.
Chancellor Scholz is scheduled to participate in the second "Central Asia-Germany" (5+1) summit in Kazakhstan on September 17. The first summit, held in Berlin last year, resulted in the signing of a strategic regional partnership program.
