ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 3. A new fiber optic network being laid across the Caspian Sea is set to revolutionize data infrastructure, Kazakhstan's Prime Minister Oljas Bektenov stated, TurkicWorld reports.
Speaking at the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Inclusion and Transformation, Bektenov noted that the project is part of the Digital Silk Way, which seeks to build a cutting-edge data storage and processing network.
"The fiber optic lines will connect Kazakhstan with the Persian Gulf countries, integrating a modern infrastructure that will support the growth of new technologies, attract major Big Tech firms, and enable Kazakhstan's IT solutions to enter the global market.
Astana Hub, with its favorable investment climate for 1,400 residents, including 400 foreign companies, plays a crucial role in this process," Bektanov said.
He added that approximately 90 percent of Kazakhstani government services are mobile-friendly. The country wants to create a holistic ecosystem by 2029 to give individuals and companies fair access to digital resources.
The National Center for Artificial Intelligence will be instrumental in developing AI products and selecting effective solutions, as announced by Kazakhstan’s president in a recent address.
To note, the Trans-Caspian Fiber Optic Line (TFOL), running from Azerbaijan to Kazakhstan, is a key component of the Digital Silk Way (DSW) project, which aims to establish a digital telecommunications corridor between Europe and Asia.
