BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 21. The International Liberation Front has released a statement condemning France's colonial violence, TurkicWorld reports.
The killing of two young Kanaks from Saint-Louis city is a tragic reflection of the situation in the region. The French state, having betrayed the promises of the Nouméa and Matignon Accords, insists on maintaining the colonial regime under the pretext of preserving order.
"It prefers to address the problems of the many indigenous peoples under colonization through violent means.
Today, the target here is a people persistently deprived of their right to self-determination and not decolonized.
The international community cannot remain silent in the face of this systematic and institutionalized violence. It's the duty of the international community to pressure France, demand its compliance with international legal standards, and call for the immediate cessation of the repressions carried out by its oppressive forces.
The situation in Martinique is also far from comforting. The rights of Martinique to economic and social justice are brutally suppressed. These state repressions, aimed at stifling the people's demands, are part of colonial logic. We strongly condemn this.
The International Liberation Front expresses unwavering support to all victims of colonialism - Kanaks, the people of Martinique, and around the world. Our struggle is one for justice, freedom, salvation, and the dignity of our people. We will remain committed to our fight until colonialism is fully eradicated and our peoples finally thrive in freedom, peace, and sovereignty," the statement said.
The statement has been endorsed by 17 political movements from territories under French colonial rule.
To note, this July, leaders of political parties and movements fighting for the independence of French colonies held their first Congress in Baku and formed the Liberation Front of French Colonies.
