BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 15. Azerbaijan aims to add an additional 21 gigawatts (GW) of capacity between 2031 and 2037, including projects in renewable energy, hydrogen, decarbonization, and other sectors, said Orkhan Zeynalov, Deputy Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan, TurkicWorld reports.
During the dynamic ministerial meeting on COP29 energy initiatives, Zeynalov emphasized the critical importance of robust regional connectivity to drive this transformative expansion forward.
"The national energy grid will not be able to absorb such volumes on its own, so it is necessary to develop a robust network of regional connections. We hope that in the future, the Central Asia-Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan-Türkiye corridors will be interconnected," he added.
