SOCAR's STAR refinery gets back in saddle in Türkiye

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 1. Refinery of STAR, one of the companies in the group of Türkiye's largest direct foreign investor and the largest integrated industrial group SOCAR Türkiye (a subsidiary of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan), has resumed its operations after successful completion of planned repairs, which lasted about two months, TurkicWorld reports via SOCAR Türkiye Energy.

According to the company, the STAR Refinery has undergone its first planned production shutdown for maintenance and modernization of all equipment.

The company announced the successful completion of the maintenance work to increase the refinery's production capacity. The STAR refinery operates continuously in integration with another company in the SOCAR Türkiye group, Petkim.

Following these upgrades, the operational efficiency of the refinery will improve, enabling uninterrupted production for the next five years without the need for planned shutdowns.

With the completion of the capacity expansion project implemented alongside the planned shutdown, the refinery's production capacity has increased by 2.5 percent.

To note, commissioned in October 2018, the STAR Refinery was built with a total investment of $6.3 billion, of which $3.3 billion was financed through loans. The refinery has an annual processing capacity of approximately 10 million tons and can handle up to 214,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
