BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 8. UN Deputy Secretary-General and Regional Director of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for Europe and the CIS, Ivana Zivkovic, shared her thoughts on social media ahead of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, TurkicWorld reports.
"As we prepare for COP29, let us remember that true sustainability, both in terms of the environment and societal functioning, can only be achieved through approaches that prioritize inclusivity and gender equality," Zivkovic published on her social media account.
Notably, it has been emphasized that the COP29 presidency team conducts all its consultations based on the principles of inclusivity and gender equality in the official letters from COP29 President-designate Mukhtar Babayev to the participants of the upcoming UN Climate Summit in Baku, scheduled for November 11-22.
To look forward, COP29 in Baku is set to be a real whirlwind, with around 60 international agreements on climate change likely to be signed.
