BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 7. TotalEnergies has finalized an agreement with RWE to acquire a 50% stake in two offshore wind projects located in the North Sea, TurkicWorld reports.
The projects, designated N-9.1 and N-9.2, each with a capacity of 2 GW, are situated 110 kilometers off the German coast. These projects were awarded to RWE in August 2024 and come with 25-year licenses that can be extended to 35 years.
This latest acquisition enhances TotalEnergies’ portfolio, adding to its previously awarded concessions for N-12.1, N-11.2, and O-2.2. The company aims to leverage synergies from its 6.5 GW offshore wind hub in Germany to optimize construction and operational costs.

"This new collaboration will bolster our integrated approach to the German electricity market—the largest in Europe—enabling us to provide green electricity to help decarbonize the country’s energy and industrial sectors."

Preliminary studies examining the marine environment, subsoil, and wind and oceanographic conditions have already been conducted by the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH). This critical data will aid RWE and TotalEnergies in planning the construction of the wind parks, which are set to be commissioned in 2031 and 2032.
