TITR provides container return volume surge in EU-Asia trade

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 7. Participants in the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR, or Middle Corridor), have discussed the necessity of increasing container reversals along this route from Europe to Asia, TurkicWorld reports.

The topic was a focal point during a meeting between Kazakhstan's Minister of Transport Marat Karabaev and the head of the South Korean logistics company LX Pantos Co., Ltd., Lee Yong-ho.

"The parties discussed cooperation regarding the development of container transportation through Kazakhstan and the Caspian Sea towards Europe and back, as well as LX Pantos's participation within existing transit corridors and new routes," the report said.

To note, the TITR has been in the works since 2014, and the international association bearing the same name came into being in 2016.

The purpose of the corridor is to facilitate the speedy transport of commodities between Europe and Central Asian countries like Kazakhstan, China, and Russia.

In 2023, 2.76 million tons of cargo were transported via the TITR, with a forecast of 4.2 million tons for 2024.
