BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 18. Azerigaz Production Union of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) plans to follow a new 10-year strategy from 2025, prepared by McKinsey consulting company, Head of Azerigaz Azer Mammadov said at the first Caspian Gas Industry Forum in Baku today, TurkicWorld reports.
According to him, this strategy is all about going green and cutting down on carbon, which will also be rolled out in Azerbaijan's gas industry.
Mammadov spilled the beans that come mid-October 2024, Azerigaz will roll up their sleeves and put the technology of the US Pikar company to the test on pipelines.
"We aim to keep a close eye on the pipelines with the newest GPS technology at our fingertips," he pointed out.
The PU representative pointed out that the Azerigaz system is a mixed bag, featuring not just pipelines getting a facelift but also underground gas storage facilities, gas compressor stations, and dealings with consumers.
"Our current subscriber base stands at 2.6 million," Mammadov added.
To note, the first Caspian Gas Industry Forum, organized by the Caspian Energy Club and Enermus, the energy company, has been launched in Baku.
The discussions cover the ins and outs of the gas industry, keeping an eye on the ball with the latest 'green' trends on the horizon.
