BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 31. The US Agency for International Development (USAID) is interested in the development of Azerbaijan's banking sector, General Director of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) Toghrul Aliyev said at today's press conference in Baku, TurkicWorld reports.
“A visit of USAID representatives to Azerbaijan was organized this May. The organization is already implementing a financial project with one of the Azerbaijani banks and also promotes the development of correspondent relations with the CBA. Moreover, one of the Azerbaijani banks has recently opened a correspondent account in the US,” he pointed out.
USAID is an independent agency of the US government that is primarily responsible for administering civilian foreign aid and development assistance. With a budget of over $50 billion, USAID is one of the largest official aid agencies in the world and accounts for more than half of all US foreign assistance - the highest in the world in absolute dollar terms.
