BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 16. The management of Baku International Sea Trade Port (BISTP) and a delegation of China's railroad discussed in Baku the prospects of development in the transport and logistics spheres of Azerbaijan and China, TurkicWorld reports via BISTP.
"The Chinese delegation visiting Baku sees opportunities for the growth of cargo transportation through Azerbaijan, including the Middle Corridor, and it was important for it to get acquainted with the technical equipment of BISCP and the work of its terminals," the information notes.
The meeting discussed strategic initiatives to strengthen bilateral cooperation and multilateral cooperation.
To note, BISTP is an important link in the Middle Corridor, which has been operating for 10 years.
Over the past three years, cargo traffic has been growing from China along the Middle Corridor through the Caspian Sea and onward to Europe.
A total of 2.7 million tons of cargo passed through this route in 2023 (86 percent growth by 2022), and in 2024 the figure may exceed 4.2 million tons.
