BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 28. Florian Philippot, the leader of the French "Patriots" party, is calling on President Emmanuel Macron to explain the detention of Telegram founder Pavel Durov, TurkicWorld reports.
"Did Macron really arrest Pavel Durov?! Le Canard Enchaîné just reported that the head of Telegram told the police he was planning to have dinner with Macron that evening! Macron is definitely capable of such deception to fulfill the mission ordered by his masters: to imprison everyone who defends freedom of speech! We demand answers from Macron!" the politician wrote on his page on X.
Pavel Durov was detained on August 24 at Le Bourget airport by French authorities.
Durov's detention was later extended until August 28 as part of the procedure related to the charges against the entrepreneur.
