TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 8. Uzbekistan and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) have developed a strategy for 2022–2026, TurkicWorld reports.
The news follows a meeting between ambassador of Uzbekistan Nodirjon Turgunov with Director General of the Project Planning Department of IsDB Anasse Aissami.
At the meeting, the sides discussed issues of boosting cooperation between Uzbekistan and the IsDB, preferential financing of large projects being developed in the country, support for women and youth, and attracting technical and humanitarian assistance.
Anasse Aissami noted that the fundamental reforms launched under the leadership of the President of Uzbekistan are yielding effective results and are of great significance in strengthening the country's position in the international arena.
The sides reviewed opportunities to finance projects in transportation, logistics, education, agriculture and water management, ecology, animal husbandry, and other areas. They noted the programs aimed at supporting women and youth in Uzbekistan and considered prospects for expanding IsDB's participation in them.
In addition, the participants decided to organize a practical visit of IsDB representatives to Uzbekistan to continuously monitor the implementation of projects implemented by the bank and discuss future plans.
Earlier, a meeting was held between Uzbekistan's Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov and a delegation headed by the head of the Regional Office of the Islamic Development Bank Ibrahim Shukri.
During the meeting, the sides announced that the IsDB is developing 4 promising projects worth $434 million with Uzbekistan.
