Uzbekistan and Japan enhance collaboration in education

A delegation led by the First Deputy Hokim of Bukhara region, Botir Akhmedov, visited Yamagata Prefecture in Japan.

A meeting took place with the President of Yamagata University, Dr. Hidetoshi Tamate.

Botir Akhmedov informed about the structural transformations in the country within the framework of the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy and the tourism and investment potential of Bukhara region.

The parties discussed deep historical and cultural ties between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Japan, the level of modern relations achieved, and the existing positive dynamics of trade and economic cooperation. It was noted that there is enormous untapped potential for the development of bilateral cooperation, including the need to intensify interdepartmental and interregional cooperation in green energy, effective management, innovative development, and entrepreneurship support.

Hidetoshi Tamate emphasized that representatives of Japanese scientific and educational circles are interested in strengthening ties with the Uzbek side. The university is ready for long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation in industrial innovation and technology and the development of intelligent solutions in agriculture and medicine.

The issues of launching a pilot project with the participation of Japanese partners, implementing academic exchange programs, and attracting Japanese professors to Bukhara to exchange experiences were considered. An agreement was reached on the visit of Japanese experts to Uzbekistan in January 2024 and the leadership of Yamagata University in the first half of next year.
