Turkmenistan counts cargo transportation volume of country's maritime agency

The cargo transportation by vessels of Turkmenistan's State Service of Maritime and River Transport (Türkmendeňizderýaýollary) reached 2,410 tons from January through September 2024, TurkicWorld reports.

According to calculations based on the service's data, this figure increased by 11.88 percent compared to the previous month's data (2,154 tons).

The information shows that out of this number, 1,799 tons of goods were transported by sea, while 611 tons were transported by river.

The income of the State Service of Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan for January through September 2024 amounted to $111,2, which is 12.14 percent more than the figure for the previous month ($99,2).

Expenditures for the reporting period increased by 12.88 percent compared to the previous month ($57,180), totaling $64,543.

Furthermore, it is worth noting that in 2023, the agency transported 3,062 tons of cargo (2,261 tons by sea and 801 tons by river). Revenues for the previous year amounted to $139,172, and expenses - $67,805.

The agency "Türkmendeňizderýaýollary" was established on August 5, 1992, and carries out state management of commercial shipping in Turkmenistan. The agency's main activities include developing sea and river transport, cargo transport, and monitoring fleet and port safety.

In response to the growing economy and increasing export-import cargo flows, work is underway to increase transportation volumes and improve the quality of transportation services, including the construction of new vessels to enhance the competitiveness of the maritime fleet from 2019 through 2025.
