Turkmenistan explores opportunities to expand cooperation with UNECE

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, July 5. Turkmenistan has explored opportunities to expand cooperation with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), TurkicWorld reports.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, this topic was discussed during the meeting of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myakhri Byashimova with UNECE Regional Adviser Mario Apostolov.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for further development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the organization.

Furthermore, they paid special attention to the issues of cooperation within the framework of the UN Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA).

The Turkmen side expressed its firm commitment to further development of cooperation with SPECA countries and in this context, issues of improving the structure and reforming the activities of the program, including the establishment of the SPECA Trust Fund and its Secretariat, were raised.

Meanwhile, Turkmenistan is actively developing cooperation with the UNECE aimed at strengthening economic integration and sustainable development.

Within the framework of this cooperation, joint projects are being implemented in the fields of trade, energy, transport and ecology, which contributes to the diversification of the country's economy and improvement of infrastructure.
