Türkiye increments its exports to D-8 countries

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 1. Total exports from Türkiye to countries of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation (which, along with Türkiye, includes Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, and Pakistan) amounted to $880.6 million in September 2024, marking an increase of 8.6 percent from the same month in 2023, TurkicWorld reports.

Data from the Turkish Ministry of Trade shows that from January through September of this year, this figure grew by 18.3 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching a total of $7.46 billion.

In September of this year, Türkiye's imports from D-8 countries amounted to $1.24 billion, rising by 10.3 percent compared to the same period in 2023.

During the first nine months of 2024, the imports from D-8 countries by Türkiye grew by 12 percent compared to the same period last year, totaling $11.16 billion.

Türkiye's foreign trade turnover reached $49.1 billion in September 2024.

In the reporting month, Türkiye's exports decreased by 1.9 percent year on year to $21.9 million, and imports decreased by 1.4 percent to $27.1 million.

Türkiye's foreign trade turnover reached $443.9 million from January through September 2024, compared to the same period last year.

In the mentioned period, Turkey's exports from January through September 2024 increased by 2.6 percent compared to the same period in 2023, reaching $191.7 million, while imports decreased by 8.1 percent, to $252.1 million.

Türkiye's foreign trade turnover reached $617.5 billion last year.

The country's exports totaled $255.7 billion in 2023, up 0.6 percent compared to the same period in 2022, while imports decreased 0.5 percent to $361.7 billion.

D-8 was founded in 1997 to encourage economic and development cooperation among the eight Member States. The D-8 aims include, among other things, boosting developing nations' positions in the global economy, diversifying new trade opportunities, and increasing participation in international decision-making. The D-8 prioritizes cooperation in the following areas: trade, industry, agriculture and food security, energy, transportation, and tourism.
