BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 25
Guarantee mechanism initiative of Türkiye is in accordance with international law on signed agreements, Palestinian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Nasir Abdul Karim told TurkicWorld in an exclusive interview.
“Türkiye has been very strong supporter of the Palestinian people. Palestine welcomes Türkiye’s initiative. Actually, the initiative of the Foreign minister of Türkiye Hakan Fidan is in accordance with international law. It’s according to almost one thousand resolutions vis-a-vis the question of Palestine in the United Nations and all of them call for the implementation of International Law and withdrawal of Israel from the lands had occupied in 1967 including Jerusalem”, - the ambassador expressed.
He mentioned that Israel’s acts are definitely a genocide. There is no other definition in the international law other than that.
“One of the most powerful armies on this planet bombarding a very small area filled with civilians, and in the last 17 days, more than 5,000 Palestinian civilians were killed. Among the killed 2,055 children and 1,119 women, and the rest are men.” – Karim noted.
The ambassador said that the Palestinian civilians were the target of the Israeli army, but nobody saw HAMAS fighters being targeted. All residential areas and the whole neighborhood were decimated.
“Everything that Israel has been committing since the 17th of October is basically one war crime after another. When you listen to some Western leaders talking about Israel having the right to defend itself within the confines of international humanitarian law, however, can’t they see that Israel is violating multiple principles of international law, and international humanitarian law?” – he highlighted.
Karim added that Arab countries are doing their best within their capabilities and there were meetings in the Arab League where they took decisions about this incident and did it firmly.
“Especially, Egypt and Jordan are against Israel’s attempt to forcefully dislocate the Palestinian people from Gazza to the Sinai desert. This would be another ‘Nakba’ (also known as the Palestinian Catastrophe). I would like to express that it was in 1948 when Israel committed an ethnic cleansing in Palestine. Through which dislocated half of the population of historical Palestine. 70% of the population of Gaza are actually descendants of those refugees who were ethnically cleansed by Israel in 1948.” – the ambassador added.
He noted that The Arab League has done everything it could within its capabilities. They did everything they could to prevent Israel from committing another ‘Nakba’ against the Palestinian people.
The ambassador also said that establishing Palestinian independent state with Jerusalem as its capital will solve the problem.
“Thousands of lives could have been saved and we could have avoided all the trauma and genocide that Palestinians going through. If Israel ends the occupation the problem will be solved”, - he highlighted.
He also noted that the claim of Israel that “Palestine sold their lands to them” is totally absurd.
“There is nothing to substantially this. This is part of Israeli propaganda, it’s well-known like the code name “Hasbara”( Public diplomacy of Israel). They spread lies and mendacities. How people could sell their lands? So where is the money they got when they sold their lands? More than half of the people of Palestine are living in difficult humanitarian circumstances in refugee camps, everybody knows that. The rest of them are living under a constant daily colonial racist regime that is applying apartheid and committing atrocities against Palestinians”, - Nasir Abdul Karim emphasized.
The ambassador noted in his speech that such kind of incidents are propagated by Israel supporters to diminish Palestinian people struggling for freedom and independence.
“This propaganda aims to dehumanize Palestinians and to make them look like subcharacters. Once again, it is obviously ridiculous and absurd”, - the ambassador said.
