Heydar Aliyev Foundation-initiated Baku Marathon 2023 kicks off

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 7. The sixth "Baku Marathon 2023" has started at the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, TurkicWorld reports.

As many as 19,500 participants have been registered.

The Baku Marathon, held since 2016, is aimed at supporting the development of sports and promoting a healthy lifestyle.

The half marathon, which will be held under the motto "Defeat the wind", covers a distance of 21 kilometers. The starting and finishing points will be on the National Flag Square. Marathon route: National Flag Square – Seaside National Park (Boulevard) – Baku International Marine Station – Neftchilar Avenue – White City Boulevard – Khagani Rustamov Street – White City Boulevard, November 8 Avenue, part of Yusif Safarov Street – Uzeyir Hajibeyli Street, including the Javanshir Bridge and the intersection of Afiyyaddin Streets Jalilova and Uzeyir Hajibeyli, – Neftchilar Avenue (Government House, Museum Center, Puppet Theater, Maiden Tower, Azneft Circle), Baku Funicular, Bailov Circle, Bibi-heybat Highway (Palace of Water Sports) and along Seaside Boulevard (behind the Palace of Water Sports, Baku Cristall Hall) – the National Flag Square.

The winners of the Baku Marathon 2023 will be awarded in two categories. The participants who took the 1st place in the male and female nominations will be awarded 3,000 manat ($1,764), the 2nd place - 2,000 manat ($1,176), the holders of the 3rd place will receive prizes and gifts in the amount of 1,000 manat ($588), as well as medals and certificates.

The students who were the first to cross the finish line in the women's and men's categories will be awarded in the nominations "Be Young" (Azercell), as well as "The oldest participant who crossed the finish line", "Corporate participant who crossed the finish line first" and "The most creative costume". All marathon participants and volunteers who helped organize the race will be awarded certificates. Some 2,000 participants the first to reach the finish line will receive medals of the Baku Marathon 2023.

An entertainment zone will be created on the National Flag Square for marathon participants and guests. Various entertainment programs, contests and sporting events will be held there.

Azercell Telecom is the exclusive partner of the Baku Marathon 2023. The marathon will be held with the organizational support of the Ministry of Science and Education, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, KOBIA, SOCAR, "Azerlotereya" JSC, the Seaside National Park (Boulevard) Administration and the Public Association "Regional Development". The implementation of the project is entrusted to the Sport Marketing Group (SMG).
