The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed the signing of the political framework agreement on the transitional period in the Republic of Sudan, on December 5, 2022, in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, amidst a large international and regional presence, reports TurkicWorld.

H.E. the Secretary-General, Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, expressed his hope that this agreement would constitute an important step towards enhancing security, peace and stability in Sudan.

The OIC Secretary-General commended the keenness of all Sudanese stakeholders on reaching this agreement that marks the beginning of a new phase of stability and prosperity for the Sudanese people.

The Secretary-General stressed the firm position of the OIC in support of the Republic of Sudan, and appreciated the great role Sudan plays within the OIC and its efforts in promoting Islamic solidarity and joint Islamic action.
