France should emulate Britain's Chagos Islands sovereignty decision

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 4. Britain has announced its intention to relinquish nearly fifty years of sovereignty over the strategically significant Chagos Islands in the Indian Ocean,TurkicWorld reports.

Under the agreement, Britain will hand over the Chagos Islands to Mauritius. This decision ought to be a wake-up call for France, which is keen on holding onto its colonial territories.

While the world is turning over a new leaf and countries are cutting ties with their old colonial pasts, France is doubling down, keeping a tight grip on its overseas territories and playing hardball with its colonial ambitions.

In today's post-colonial landscape, France is playing its cards close to the vest, trying to keep its former colonies under its thumb in the political, economic, spiritual, and cultural arenas, all while looking to cash in on the natural resources of these nations. France's stubbornness to stick to this policy is digging a deeper hole for the local people.

However, the Macron administration needs to realize that this strategy is bound to fail. France needs to end its disgraceful strategy and leave this road before it's too late.
