BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 23. Discussions aimed at enhancing the capacity of the Middle Corridor took place between the leadership of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Digital Development and Transport and Chinese companies in Xi'an, TurkicWorld reports.
This was shared in a post by the Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev on his X account.
"We discussed the organization of transportation along the Middle Corridor, efforts to increase infrastructure capacity, and cooperation with neighboring countries. Representatives from China noted recent progress in enhancing transport speeds and overall performance along the Middle Corridor," the minister wrote.
The Minister highlighted that his visit included meetings with leaders of major Chinese logistics companies involved in the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor) and with officials from various Chinese provinces.
To note, the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, also known as the Middle Corridor, connects China and European countries via Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea water area, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye. TITR has been in operation for 10 years but has been actively developing for the last two years. In 2023, 2.7 million tons of cargo passed through it (86 percent more than in 2022); in 2024, the volume may exceed 4.2 million tons.
