BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 19. The winner of Azerbaijan's first open international tender for the construction of a major renewable energy facility - the Gobustan Solar Power Plant (SPP) with a capacity of 100 MW - may be announced at COP29 events in Baku, Director of the Renewable Energy Agency under the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan Javid Abdullayev said, TurkicWorld reports.
He made the remark during the 12th Caspian Energy Forum in Baku today.
To note, this project is being implemented with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), whose delegation visited the planned construction site of the SPP (a land plot of 300.77 hectares on the Absheron Peninsula) on September 5.
The state tender commission will pick the cream of the crop from eight companies that made the cut in the qualification round, with EBRD experts looking on.
The creation of this renewable energy facility aligns with Azerbaijan's strategy to increase the share of renewable energy in the country's total energy grid to 35 percent by 2030.
