New prospects for cooperation in sports are opening up between Azerbaijan and Italy, Italian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Luca di Gianfrancesco said, TurkicWorld reports.
"There are new areas for further deepening cooperation in sports between Azerbaijan and Italy. I am glad to note that at today's event we saw the opportunity to develop new projects in the sports field," the ambassador said at a round table on the topic “Speedand Beauty: The Success Story of Made in Italy and Formula 1”.
Luca di Gianfrancesco also noted the symbolism of holding the event in Baku simultaneously with the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, which is celebrating its eighth anniversary this year.
"Despite the relatively young age of Formula 1, the Baku stage has already become a very popular and almost iconic event of the championship," he added.
The round table was organized by the Italian Embassy in Azerbaijan with the support of Formula 1, Scuderia Ferrari, Racing Bulls, Pirelli, Brembo and Ferrari Trento.
Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix has been held in Baku on the city track since 2017.
The Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2024 competition started today.
The main competition will be held on September 15, and the winners of Formula 1 and Formula 2 in Baku will be determined.
