75-year-old Mamyt Tashtanov cycle from Kyrgyzstan to Turkiye

Bishkek, Sept. 28, 2022. / Kabar /. Mamyt Tashtanov, a 75-year-old resident of Osh, rode a bicycle from the southern capital of Kyrgyzstan of Osh to the Turkish province of Bursa, where the IV World Nomad Games will begin on September 29. Journalists of the TRT AVAZ channel met with him.

The Kyrgyzstani said that he left Osh on August 5 and spent 45 days on the road. The length of the route was almost 6 thousand kilometers. The path was laid through the desert steppes of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, as well as the mountain roads of Azerbaijan and Georgia. Initially, he intended to lay a route through five countries: Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Armenia.

For an overnight stay, the traveler built a tent, and protected himself from wild animals with false flares. Difficulties were created by weather conditions: on some days the temperature rose to 45-50 °C.

“Because of the heavy load of 25 kilograms, I could not take a lot of water with me, so I had to endure the torment of thirst,” Mamyt Tashtanov shared.

He crossed the finish line through Georgia. The cyclist covered the final distance from the Black Sea to Istanbul and further to Bursa. Next year, the 75-year-old traveler intends to cover the way on his two-wheeled transport from Osh to Berlin.

The IV World Nomad Games will be held from September 29 to October 2 in the city of Iznik (Bursa province of Turkiye). Kyrgyzstan will be represented by 148 athletes.
