Kyrgyzstan takes over chairmanship in TurkPA

Baku. TurkicWorld:

A meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking Countries (TurkPA) is being held in Kyrgyzstan with participation of member states' parliamentary delegations, TurkicWorld reports via Kyrgyzstan's Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament).

The meeting of the TurkPA council began with the ceremony of transferring chairmanship competence in the assembly of Turkic-speaking countries from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan.

Chairman of Kazakhstan's Parliament Yerlan Koshanov spoke about the work done in TurkPA over the past year and wished successful work to his Kyrgyz counterpart Talant Mamytov.

"The common history, tradition and language, in particular the respect for each other that we have preserved over the centuries, is the legacy of our ancestors. I am sure that by maintaining mutual respect we will achieve our goals in all areas of cooperation," Mamytov said.

TurkPA has developed and implemented a number of significant projects over the past 14 years aimed at enhancing political, economic, and diplomatic ties between the member-countries.
