Peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia will serve the development of integration in the South Caucasus, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmat Hajiyev said, TurkicWorld reports.

Hajiyev made the remark at the international conference titled "South Caucasus Development & Cooperation" in Azerbaijan's Shusha city [liberated from Armenian occupation in the 2020 second Karabakh war] on April 28.

"Azerbaijan, for its part, is ready to sign the peace treaty, demonstrating this by participation in the negotiation process, which lasted 30 years," he noted.

According to him, Armenia is still refraining from concrete steps which will benefit it.

The official noted that joint development in various sectors such as transport, trade and energy will bring social and economic benefits to Azerbaijan, Armenia and the entire region.
