Bishkek hosts exhibition of copies of masterpieces of world art

Bishkek, Aug. 11, 2022. /Kabar/.

The exhibition of facsimile copies of masterpieces of world art is extended in Bishkek until Sept. 4, the Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts reported.

Facsimile (from Latin fac simile - literally “do like this”) is a reproduction of any original - a drawing, engraving, painting, sculpture - that conveys it quite accurately, with all the details.

One of the largest facsimile collections was that of Nadia Léger. In 1925, she entered the studio of the famous French painter Fernand Léger as an apprentice. Later she became the wife of the master. During the years of their joint work, many facsimile copies of paintings related to classicism and post-impressionism were created.

The collection of Nadia Leger included facsimiles of works by such great masters as Monet, Renoir, Cezanne, Van Gogh, Modigliani, Picasso and many others.

After the death of her husband, the artist presented part of the collection to the Minister of Culture of the Soviet Union, after which a significant part of the work was donated to our museum, the report said.

The exposition presents 60 works.
