BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 8.On February 7, 2025, as part of the 2nd meeting of the Council of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, the international exhibition "Diwani Lughat al-Turk" was held in Kazakhstan, TurkicWorld reports.
The exhibition was organized by the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation in collaboration with TIKA and the Turkic World Foundation.
Speaking at the opening event, the President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Akhtoty Rayimkulova emphasized that the work "Diwani Lughat al-Turk" plays a significant role in uniting the Turkic world: "The magnificent work of the great scholar Mahmud Kashgari, created in the 11th century, is not just a literary monument; it reflects the identity of the Turkic peoples, our culture, and our traditions. It symbolizes the connection between generations”.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan Adil Karimov, the Minister of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan Aida Balaeva, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Alibek Bakayev, the Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic, Gulbara Abdykalykova, the Ambassador of Türkiye to Kazakhstan Mustafa Kapuciu, the Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States Kubanychbek Omuraliev, the President of the Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafaev, as well as numerous guests and media representatives.
The exhibition is dedicated to the 950th anniversary of the work "Diwani Lughat al-Turk", created by the outstanding Turkic scholar and thinker Mahmud Kashgari. The exhibition featured rare artifacts, historical manuscripts, and items reflecting aspects of the cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples in the 11th century, as well as clothing specially designed by the fashion designer Ece Karayel, inspired by the work "Diwani Lughat al-Turk".
It is worth noting that in honor of the 950th anniversary of the creation of "Diwani Lughat al-Turk" and its inclusion in the UNESCO anniversaries list for 2024-2025, on December 13, 2024, the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation organized the international conference "Mapping the World in Lexicography: The 950th Anniversary of "Diwani Lughat al-Turk" and an exhibition at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
