Kyrgyzstan introduces compulsory PCR testing for all arrivals

Bishkek, Nov. 30, 2021. / Kabar /. The Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan announced the implementation of measures aimed at preventing the spread of a new strain of coronavirus infection (omicron) in the country from Dec. 1, 2021, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers of the country reported.

To enter the Kyrgyz Republic, foreign citizens and Kyrgyz citizens will need to pass and have a negative PCR test for coronavirus infection with them before arriving in the country, regardless of the vaccination status.

Based on the information about the new strain, in order to take measures to prevent the import and its further spread, the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan will monitor the epidemiological situation in the countries where foci of infection with the new omicron strain are detected in order to transfer the list of such countries to the Border Service of Kyrgyzstan. Citizens of such countries will be prohibited from entering the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Ministries and departments have been instructed to be in full readiness in case of complications of the epidemiological situation in the country associated with the new strain of COVID-19.

Earlier the Kyrgyz authorities held an emergency consultation with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as with the World Health Organization on the new COVID-19 strain.
