Kyrgyz ambassador meets with Prosecutor General of Korea

Bishkek, Jan. 31, 2023 / Kabar/. Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to the Republic of Korea Aida Ismailova met in Seoul withProsecutor General of Korea Lee Wonsok, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed the development of bilateral cooperation in various areas of activity of the prosecution authorities, in particular, combating cybercrime, corruption, drug smuggling and the provision of mutual legal assistance and the extradition of convicted persons. Particular emphasis was placed on further cooperation in the exchange of experience and the organization of mutual educational exchanges on the basis of educational institutions of the Supreme Prosecutor's Office of Korea.

Ismailova stressed that the Kyrgyz Republic attaches great importance to the further development of relations with the Republic of Korea in all areas of bilateral cooperation, including through the prosecutor's offices of the two countries. She highly appreciated the ongoing reforms of the Korean Prosecutor's Office, as well as the progress made and the successes of the Korean government in the field of digitalization, building an effective information system for interaction between government agencies and building an architecture for a cybersecurity system.

In turn, Lee Wonsok informed about the activities of the prosecutor's office in general and the ongoing reforms, and also spoke about the features of digital forensics, the basic principles of the Korean automated information system "KICS" and shared his experience in combating cybercrime, and also expressed his readiness for further interaction on all the above questions.

In order to study Korea's experience in introducing information systems into criminal justice and further strengthen bilateral cooperation, the parties discussed the possibility of organizing an exchange of visits between the prosecutor's offices of the two countries.
