Bishkek hosting Int'l Energy Forum with participation of Cabinet Chairman Zhaparov

Bishkek, April 8, 2022 . / Kabar /. The Kyrgyz capital city of Bishkek is hosting on Friday the International Energy Forum entitled "Transformation of the Energy Sector of the Kyrgyz Republic on the Way to Affordable and Sustainable Energy of the Future", Kabar reported.

The forum is attended by Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan-Head of the Presidential Administration Akylbek Zhaparov.

Thus, in his speech, the head of the Cabinet pointed out that the energy system of Kyrgyzstan faces certain challenges to accelerate mechanisms to increase generation.

"In this regard, the Cabinet is carrying out reforms for sustainable development of the energy system of Kyrgyzstan," he said.

Zhaparov also elaborated on the work done:

- structural reform was carried out to strengthen energy companies, to restructure debts and optimize their activities;

- comprehensive measures were implemented for gradual recovery of energy sector. A medium-term tariff policy for electric and thermal energy was adopted, taking into account support for families and citizens in need;

- enhanced measures were taken to increase the electric capacity of hydropower and to achieve the goals of carbon neutrality.

The event is planned to consider achievement of clean energy; accessibility of energy services; energy sector reform.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Bakyt Torobaev, Minister of Economy and Commerce Daniyar Amangeldiev, Minister of Labor, Social Welfare and Migration Kudaibergen Bazarbaev, Deputy Minister of Energy Tilek Aitaliev, representatives of the World Bank and international organizations are taking part in the forum.
